Eating my way through life the STA way

There is a world-wide problem with teen-aged girls opting to eating disorders, and I sadly admit I am one of those girls. I suffer from a St. Teresa’s eating disorder; all I ever think about is food.

At least I know I am not alone; many STA girls suffer from this tasty disorder.

How did this start?

It all started at a little place called STA. I don’t fully blame you, STA (there are specific people to name but I will get to that later). I admit before I was in high school I always enjoyed good food, in fact when I shadowed I liked how STA was a very food-oriented school. Now, however, it has gotten deliciously out of control.

Advisory Chipotle lunches, having Waldo pizza practically once a week, heck Jo Jo’s has even been an influence to my eating problem.

What is my typical day like at STA ?

My day revolves around food, it is literally all I think about.

I wake up, eat breakfast.

I go to my morning periods and interrogate others (whether I know them personally or not) about what they have for lunch. If it’s something that sounds appetizing I call dibs*.

When I finally get to advisory I eat half my lunch before announcements are finished. At lunch I search through the Commons for good food, and again if I find something that looks good I call dibs. By the end of lunch I usually have dibs on four other people’s lunches, and eat until I cannot walk, or am painfully full.

The periods after lunch are the hardest. I usually stay satisfied until seventh period, then I decide to text my mom and dad to see what is on the menu for dinner. They NEVER respond, they are “too busy” with “work” to worry about or plan for the most important part of the day.

As soon as the bell rings I call my parents to ask about dinner yet again. Two things happen here either A) they ignore my calls or B) say “I don’t know Mickey probably leftovers**. I know I said I love food, and I do but the WORST thing to have for dinner is leftovers.

When I get home from school I make myself my third meal of the day, snack***.

Snack usually holds me over until about 5:30 and this is when I start my appetizer (for dinner of course). When dinner is finally served I scarf it down within minutes.

Desert usually follows dinner within the hour, and later when I am slaving away at my homework I will have a midnight snack.

Who specifically is to blame for this eating disorder?

There are numerous people to blame, the development office for offering candy to any student whenever they want, the upperclassman who have taught me my ways, but the person who deserves the most blame is president Nan Bone.

Bone may seem like a wonderful, caring women but if you really observe her it seems as if she is trying to plump up her students for some sort of year round hibernation that never comes.

Another theory I have come up with is the administration offers free Waldo or other food to sway our opinion, for example they give us food so we will like the new chapel.

How can I stop this problem?

I have absolutely no idea how to stop this food-problem I have. I think I, and every other STA student, is incurable, and honestly I don’t care. I am happy eating all day.

*Dibs: if you go to STA you know what this mean. If not, it’s when you see someone’s lunch that looks delicious and you can call seconds, or dibs. t At STA: It is a race to who calls what, it can be called to fourth or fifth dibs at times.

**Snack: I come home and eat more than a lunch sized amount of food, but I call it snack to make myself feel better.

***Leftovers: dinner that consists of all left over dinner and lunches from the night before or the past week, leftovers include many foods but chicken and pasta are ALWAYS options. I personally hate having leftovers for dinner, the food is good, but I like a variety.
