Bored with writing little anecdotes about my family, I wanted this blog to be different.
I decided to google family, just for kicks.
About 1,170,000,000 results. Translation: about 1,170,000,000 blog topics. Yes!
As is usually the case, Wikipedia dominates the others on the list, taking first position underneath my search bar. Typical.
I scan the other links, none of which tempt me to visit their sites.
- A Christian organization with ‘advice on marriage, parenting, and other topics.’Â — Slightly intriguing, but no thanks.
- Images for families — Already covered that one.
- A genealogy website — This has some potential. I may look into when I the time and the means to search out my long lost relatives across the pond in Ireland.
And then I see it.
Family Life Today. Blue and underlined. Beckoning me to click
and relive those gender segregated ‘life’Â lessons forced on my fifth grade class and me.
While visions of puberty experts and fidgeting fifth graders dance in my head, I shudder and navigate deftly away from this page.
A word of comfort. You, my beloved and appreciated blog readers, will never read about ‘Family Life’Â on this blog. Ever.
I’ll leave that conversation up to your bumbling fifth grade teachers when they just can’t stand the smell of B.O. any longer.
