Three lacrosse players earned all-metro honors, three track and field athletes will participate at State and the soccer team will compete at Sectionals this month, according to athletic director Mark Hough.
Lacrosse
Junior Kristina Coppinger and alumnae Molly Laird and Katie Hornbeck received all-metro recognition at State May 19, but the team did not advance.
Track and field
The Stars advanced to State senior Ann Campbell in the 1600- and 3200-meter runs, senior Kennedy Bright in the 100-meter dash and alumna Giggy Reardon in the triple jump at Sectionals yesterday. Campbell won the 3200, while Reardon’s triple jump measured a school-record-breaking 11.31 meters (37’-1.25”).
While these athletes will compete Friday and Saturday in Jefferson City, Mo., other Sectionals participants included sophomores Emma Kate Callahan and Brie Hussey in the 4×800-meter relay, seniors Anna Bauman and Brit Maguire in the 4×800 and senior Hayden Lee in the 4×800 and 3200. Bright also competed in the 200-meter dash, and Reardon participated in the 100-meter hurdles.
At Districts May 17, alumna Giggy Reardon topped STA’s triple-jump time, while senior Ann Campbell won the 1600 and 3200.
Soccer
The Stars will compete in Sectionals against Liberty High School 7 p.m. Tuesday at Liberty Middle School.
The team won Districts 5-0 against Park Hill South High School May 22 and District semifinals 10-0 against William Chrisman High School May 19. Sophomore Tess Rellihan scored four goals in District semifinals.
