In the name of Natalie

In the name of Natalie

[ezcol_1fifth]Questions[/ezcol_1fifth][ezcol_1fifth]Natalie Rall

[/ezcol_1fifth][ezcol_1fifth]Natalie Kilgore

[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]Natalie Fitts [/ezcol_1fifth][ezcol_1fifth_end]Natalie Nuessle[/ezcol_1fifth_end]

[ezcol_1fifth]Why did your parent’s name you Natalie?[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]My parents named me Natalie because it means “the joy of Christmastime.” I was born in May though so they wanted the joy of Christmas year round.[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]My parents named me Natalie because they saw it in a magazine and liked it in the waiting room of the delivery room, which is so lame.[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]Originally, my parents were planning on naming me Katie, but they went to a Christmas party when my mom was 6 months pregnant and there were lots of little girls there named Katie. My mom wanted something more unique so they settled on Natalie, which obviously isn’t that unique. My mom also just thought Natalie was a really pretty name and always liked the actress Natalie Wood.[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth_end]My name had to start with N (Family alliteration thing), and my dad didn’t want another Noel or Nick.[/ezcol_1fifth_end]

[ezcol_1fifth]How do you feel about your name?[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]I used to hate my name. I wanted to be called Nicole. But I have grown to love it because its unique and fits me.[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]Honestly I don’t really mind my name. It provides a variety of nicknames so that’s always been funny to like see what certain people call me.[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]Like most people, I can’t really picture myself with any other name. Sometimes I wish I had a cool, more exotic name, but overall, I love being a Natalie.[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth_end]It’s a little girly, but it means born in Latin and I can’t think of anything better that starts with N so I like it.[/ezcol_1fifth_end]

[ezcol_1fifth]Do you remember finding out there were three other girls in the grade named Natalie?[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]

Yes I do remember! It was so weird because I had only known two other Natalies in my life.[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]Natalie Rall and I carpooled freshman year, so that was my first encounter with another Natalie. I remember like middle of freshman year meeting Nat Neuss and Nat Fitts and just being like ‘This is weird.'[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]I remember looking on Moodle the summer before freshman year and seeing that there were three other Natalies. It was weird to think about because in grade school, I had always been the only Natalie. I kind of knew Natalie Rall before because she’s [senior] Molly Laird’s cousin, and I went to grade school with Molly. The other two, I didn’t know at all.[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth_end]I walked into English the first day freshman year, and there’s NatRall and NatFitts. It wasn’t long until I met NatKil either.[/ezcol_1fifth_end]

[ezcol_1fifth]Has there been an instance where three or four Natalies have had the same class?[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]Freshman year me Natalie Fitts Natalie Neussle were in the same Dolan English class so that was extremely confusing.[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]I don’t think I’ve ever been in a class with three Nats, but just being in a class with two of us is hectic enough.[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]Freshman year, Natalie Rall, Natalie Nuessle, and I all had accelerated English together. That year, I think I had four classes with Natalie Nuessle. It was kind of confusing at first, but we got used to it. Now, whenever I hear someone call Natalie when I’m out or in the hallways at school, I just assume they aren’t talking to me. I only respond if they call it again.[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth_end]See previous answer: Accelerated English I.[/ezcol_1fifth_end]

[ezcol_1fifth]Any funny stories regarding the three other Natalies in your class at STA?[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]We always are running around trying to get pictures and it gets pretty crazy.[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]Junior year Natalie Neussle told me that one of us had to change our names because she literally couldn’t handle having the same name as three other people in our class. She told me she’d brainstorm a new name for herself and then that would be what I call her. Unfortunately it never happened.[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]We’re kind of our own little club. We’re all kind of in different friend groups, but we’re always connected by our shared name. At every event, we try to get a picture all together. At the junior ring ceremony last year, we got a picture where Natalie Rall, Natalie Kilgore, and I are all really close with our arms around each other. Natalie Nuessle is standing like a foot away. It’s one of my favorite pictures ever because it really encompasses the dynamic of the Natalies. Since then, she’s come to embrace it and we have some really cute pictures.[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth_end]I always yell, ‘Which one?’ if teachers only call my first name (except in Latin) which always makes them mad because I’m the only one in most of my classes lately.[/ezcol_1fifth_end]

[ezcol_1fifth]Future?[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]Tulane University[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]Kansas State University[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth]University of Missouri Columbia[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_1fifth_end]Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology[/ezcol_1fifth_end]
