The sun shining down on the town. The smell of fresh air as you step outside. The flowers sprouting up from the ground. Powder blue shirts starting to fill the town. This could only mean one thing. Baseball season.
Whenever I know spring is approaching, I always know baseball season is here. Baseball season comes at the perfect time of the year. I mean, who doesn’t love the warm, spring air and the beginning of the baseball seasons all at once. It couldn’t come at a better time.
Now, I’m not going to sit here and tell you that I am a huge baseball fan and that I followed every single day of the Royals’ spring training, because…I didn’t. The most baseball I watch are the highlights every night on ESPN. And that’s plenty for me.
I will tell you that no matter what, I will always have a soft spot in my heart for baseball.
My “baseball watching” began in the Mike Sweeney era. For a couple of years, I used to sit and watch every single game. But, I must confess, for a little while the only reason I did that was because I was only watching for when they showed Zack Greinke (I’m still heartbroken they traded him). So that was pretty much the peak of my baseball experience.
Besides the obvious attractive men that come along with baseball, there is no better feeling than sitting at Kauffman Stadium on a nice day watching some good ‘ol baseball. I guarantee you opening day on Monday will be insane.
Kauffman Stadium is one of the best places in Kansas City. If you have never been to a game at Kauffman Stadium, you have not lived. Seriously, the atmosphere is amazing and on a beautiful spring evening, what could be better?
For some reason, even though I don’t really watch baseball, I consider myself a Royals fan. I always like to see my hometown teams winning. So as this baseball season begins, I’m kind of excited for the Royals this year. I know last year people said it was “Our Time.” But I really just hope for the sake of Kansas City residents that this year is at least bearable. I don’t think I can sit quietly through another season of people tweeting their disappointments in the team. It’s like a broken record. I hope that all of you baseball/Royals fanatics won’t have to suffer through another season.
So, please, Kansas City Royals, I beg of you, please have a somewhat respectable season for the sake of my Twitter timeline and my fellow Kansas Citians’ sanity. Thank you.
