Blogging Boys: All the single ladies

Blogging+Boys%3A+All+the+single+ladies
by Shaeffer Smith

“All the single ladies, put your hands up.”

If you put your hands up, keep them there.

I don’t want anyone to think that the way I talk about boys is that you have to be talking to them, flirting with them, hooking up with them, dating them, being friends with them… Not true.

Who cares if you’re dating somebody (Manti Te’o)????

Who cares if you haven’t had your first kiss????

Who cares if you’re not “talking” to someone right now????

Who cares if you hang out with guys every weekend????

No one should care. Just because you’re not as involved with boys like some other girls doesn’t make you any better or worse than them. It doesn’t make you pretty, or ugly, or shy, or mean, or prude, or a tease, or anti-social, or inexperienced, or anything like that.

It makes you YOU! (Literally biggest cliches, but work with me here!)

You are still pretty, nice, interesting, fun and funny even if you don’t have experience! I have been boy crazy since kindergarten, but some of my best friends aren’t! That doesn’t make me any better or worse! It makes us different.

Some people are more suited for friendships than relationships. Some people have different priorities. Some people are very picky when it comes to guys! Some aren’t picky at all. Some like one guy for years, some like a new one every week!

WHO CARES????

Don’t let any of what I say on my (beloved) blog lead you to think that you need a man. You don’t. And just because you don’t interact with boys that much doesn’t mean you’re undesirable. High school is all about having fun and growing up! If your plans for growing up and having fun include boys, go for it. If they include focusing on your friends and family, all the power to you, girl.

Sometimes I think that boys are my entire world, and then I realize they’re only a small part of my life. I love myself with and without boys. Love YOURSELF whether it includes a boy or not.

Plus, college will be a completely different story to look forward to. Don’t be scared that you’re going to go in to college “inexperienced”. No one should care.

It’s really not a big deal! You rock either way. Really.
