We all have different ways of celebrating New Years Eve. For Clare Mitchell and her family, it’s putting on their favorite pair of pajamas and heading over to their aunt and uncle’s house, where Mitchell and her cousins have a pajama party.

“Everyone is dressed up in their pjs.” Mitchell said. “We write down our predictions for next year and read the ones from last year and see what came true.”

Mitchell said her favorite thing about her New Years Eve tradition is being around her family and friends, its just really casual and you get to stay out all night. She said she enjoys her New Years Eve tradition because it’s unique to her family.

“It kind of shows who our family is. We are really funny and loud and no typical family would have a huge pajama party on new years eve. it’s random, like my family.”

Mitchell said it’s also a family tradition for her cousins to make dry ice bombs, combining water and dry ice in water bottles instead of the more typical fireworks on New Years Eve.

Though Mitchell says she loves her family tradition, she’s thought the tradition of kissing someone at midnight would be a great way to start off the new year.
