My Fair City: She’s a Keeper

by Cara McClain

If you don’t already listen to She’s a Keeper, you should. You will love their music, I promise.

They just made available on their website some of their older songs that they called “The Basement Tapes.”

Band member Fritz Hutchison said that Zac Jurden and Colin Nelson recorded these songs in Zac’s basement a few years before  She’s a Keeper existed.

“Zac and Colin used to just write songs for kicks,” Hutchison said. “The ones on ‘The Basement Tapes’ either didn’t end up used on the album or possess a certain quality that escaped them on the band version (mostly on ‘Candyland’).”

Currently, She’s a Keeper is working on a new album and a music video that should come out in the next couple of weeks.

“We just recorded a live EP that’s five songs, three of which are new and will also be re-recorded in a studio setting and featured on the full length album,” Hutchison said.

She’s a Keeper will be playing at the Record Bar on Feb. 24, so go see them and support local music!
