I Challenge You: Week Twenty-Seven Challenge

I Challenge You: Week Twenty-Seven Challenge

Let’s recap from last week: I told you that if we prepared for finals, I would have a fun challenge this week.  Well, inspiration struck this week and I have a different challenge for this week.  But next week will be the fun challenge I promised.  I still hope you find this challenge fun though!

Today is Sunday, May 8, aka Mother’s Day.  Today is the one day a year where there is absolutely no complaining, bickering with siblings, or questioning you mom’s correctness about every topic there ever was.  In honor of this day, this week’s challenge is to show your mom how much she means to you.

As high schoolers, the way we celebrate Mother’s Day has evolved.  Handing her a poorly drawn card, I’m assuming, won’t make the cut anymore.  Below I will provide you with ways we celebrated when we were younger, and then the new and improved way we can celebrate this year.

  • Old way of celebrating: cleaning off your spot at the table after dinner.  New way of celebrating: cleaning the entire kitchen after dinner.  If you do this without being told, your mom will be astounded and very thankful.
  • Old way of celebrating: breakfast in bed.  New way of celebrating: breakfast in bed.  This is a classic way of showing your mom how much she means to you.  However, if you’re reading this, chances are you missed your opportunity to do it.  Surprise her by doing it later in the week.
  • Old way of celebrating: making her arts and crafts projects.  New way of celebrating: re-gift those old projects.  I know my mom would love it if I brought out the cards I made for her everyday at “art center” in kindergarten.  It will bring back memories, and is an easy gift to give.

As Jay said in this week’s Mother’s Day episode of Modern Family, “you only get one mom”.  Show your mom how much you love her today and all week.  I would like to give a personal shout out to my mom, as the only person who reads this blog.  Love you, mom.  So let’s all go out this week, show our mom’s how much they mean to us and conquer this challenge!

How did the week 27 challenge go for you?
