I Challenge You: Week Eighteen Challenge

It cost me $71.50 and 1,064 minutes of my life, but the Academy Awards have finally arrived and I have seen all 10 Best Picture nominations. As I write this blog, the Oscars are happening. I am currently one of two on my voting ballot. My picks are Christian Bale for Best Supporting Actor (got it right), Hailee Steinfeld for Best Supporting Actress (got it wrong), James Franco for Best Actor, Natalie Portman for Best Actress and “The Social Network” for Best Original Score (got it right).

And the biggest category of the night, to which my devotion has already been proven, is Best Picture. Here are the nominees in order of my favorites:

  • 1. “Black Swan”
  • 2. “Winter’s Bone”
  • 3. “127 Hours”
  • 4. “The Social Network”
  • 5. “The Fighter”
  • 6. “Inception”
  • 7. “The King’s Speech”
  • 8. “True Grit”
  • 9. “Toy Story 3”
  • 10. “The Kids Are All Right”

My journey to see all 10 Best Picture nominations ended with a bang! Yesterday, I saw three different nominees: ‘127 Hours’, ‘True Grit’ and ‘The Fighter’. By the time the 10:15 show rolled around, I was half asleep, but seeing Mark Wahlberg in ‘The Fighter’ was enough to keep me awake. I loved this personal challenge so much, I plan on doing it every year from now on.

With the month of the Oscars finally over, we are now ready to jump back into our regularly scheduled challenges. I want everyone to get involved in STA’s community service this week, so our challenge is an easy way to make a difference in someone’s life. This week’s challenge is do a good deed everyday.

This can be as easy as a smile or as advanced as doing 30 hours of service at an agency. I would like to here about how you make a difference in people’s life this week. Please comment on this blog or e-mail me at [email protected] and tell me about one or more of your good deeds of the week. So let’s go out this week, do a good deed and conquer this challenge.

How did the week 18 challenge go for you?
