The STARfish competed in the COMO Invitational at University of Missouri’s Mizzou Aquatic Center on Jan. 6. Overall, St. Teresa’s swim and dive teams placed 24th.

According to sophomore Lucy Bailey, the COMO Invitational had significant importance compared to the previous meets of the season.

“It’s a qualifying meet, so you can qualify for finals there,” Bailey said. “We had to travel far for it, which we don’t usually do”

There were 11 swimming events, and six rounds of one diving event.

“There were so many teams,” Bailey said. “It’s kind of scary to be in the water and not have another member of your team with you, but I also think that gives you a competitive edge.”

The COMO finals swim qualifiers were freshmen Lauren Kasyjanski, Erin Graham, and Marie Bruik, sophomores Mary Diamond and Alexandra Kerr, juniors Evelyn Moser and Caroline Penner and seniors Mia Schloegel and Maddie Adam. Junior Caroline Armstrong qualified for dive.
