Reviews of locations from journalism students

As part of a journalism project, students created podcasts reviewing the various types of pop culture today, from Ke$sha songs to vampire literature. Here are their reviews of locations in the Kansas City area.


Five Guys Burgers and Fries, a new restaurant in Ward Parkway Mall opened this August and makes good business because people of all ages enjoy this original burger joint.

Journalism student Mickey Redlingshafer reflects that Five Guys Burgers and Fries is not a run of the mill burger place. She states that Kansas City has never seen a burger joint quite like Five Guys.

The Roasterie opened November first, and it is quickly being known as a hip and young coffee shop. Some of the unique aspects are the use of recycling, lot of local foods and coffee beans, and a calming atmosphere.

Journalism student Lauren Langdon thinks that The Roasterie is an exciting addition to One Nineteen Center. Their delicious drinks and above average pastries should make The Roasterie your go to coffee shop.

I am writing a restaurant review for B.R.G.R., a modern burger joint, with respect for one of America’s favorite foods. Located in Prairie Village, Kansas, they offer sophisticated home cooking with great service at a reasonable price.
