This fall, TNT added a “real life crime series” to their lineup. “Cold Justice” provides the excitement of shows such as “CSI” and “Cold Case” with reality. Each episode, prosecutor Kelly Siegler and crime scene investigator Yolanda McClary travel to a small town where a violent crime case has gone cold for whatever reason.
In the first season, the pair travel from Arizona to Louisiana to Ohio to investigate unsolved cases from as far back as 1982 to as recently as 2008. In the first episode of the series, they visit Cuero, Texas, where investigators have spent over 10 years trying to determine whether the death of Pam Shelly, a mother of two, was murder or suicide. Siegler and McClary are able to get in contact with many people involved in the case, including Pam’s daughter and the first responders on the scene.
The only disappointing part of the show is the lack of resolution. When most of the episodes air, the case is still not closed like it would be on most fictitious shows. However, this adds to the reality of the show. TNT updates the show’s website whenever updates are made to any of the cases that have been featured.
Its debut season was only eight episodes long, but provided a good introduction to the series. The show has been renewed for a second season, which will premiere January 17. Episodes from season one are currently available on TNTdrama.com.
