Ten STA students were selected to a KC Metro Honor Choir earlier this month, and five auditioned for the All-State Choir October 26.
Out of 600 auditionees, junior Monica Stanley was chosen to be one of twelve girls and one of six altos from Kansas City selected to the All-State Choir, according to music teacher Greg Monsma.
“[Being chosen] is the highest honor in the state for a vocal musician and Monica is in truly rare company,” Monsma said.
In auditions, students performed a solo, sight read music, and identified key signatures,. Based on scores, girls were placed in a KC Metro Honor Choir.
All-District Choir students who advanced to All-State Choir auditions include: Madison Fitzgerald, Monica Stanley, Hillary Talken, Katherine Viviano, and Micah Welch.
Students who were selected for the KC Metro Women’s Choir include: Lily Cosgrove, Annie Huber, Emmie McCabe, Natalie Rall, and Chandler Rowley.
