Taylor Swift, pop singer, and Travis Kelce, Chiefs’ tight end, created headlines on August 26th, when they announced their engagement.
Their love story began two years ago in July 2023. On Kelce’s New Heights podcast, he announced that he made a bracelet for Swift with his phone number on it but was unable to deliver it. His attempt to meet the superstar created buzz with hopeful fans. Rumors of their potential romance solidified following Swift’s appearance at Arrowhead Stadium a few months later.
The two were then spotted numerous times together in public, further exciting fans. Speculation swirled whether or not sightings of Swift and Kelce were a gimmick, but since the engagement, there has been no question. The duo finally spoke as a couple on the New Heights podcast in August. Viewers were elated, as Swift and Kelce’s love for each other was undeniable. Swift talked about buying the rights to her music and leaving them to her kids one day.
Without missing a beat, the pair posted engagement pictures at Kelce’s estate in Leawood a few weeks later. When the news of the engagement broke, workplaces and schools alike came to a stop, as people spread the news. Swift and Kelce enthusiasts were ecstatic by this announcement, including students at STA.
Junior and Swiftie-at-heart, Audrey Squires, recalls when she heard the news.
“I was really excited when I checked my phone and had all these texts,” Squires said.
The power couple’s engagement photos drew lots of attention, especially towards Swift’s ring, a hand-made cushion cut diamond. Beyond the ring, the wedding possibilities are endless.
Squire believes the event will be held in the NFL’s off-season. News sources speculate the couple will wed early next year and potentially at Swift’s Rhode Island estate.
“The wedding is going to be perfect in every way – formal, classy yet simple,” Squires said.
What will the couple wear? Squires thinks Swift’s dress will be simple. She also notes that Kelce has a “fashion situation going on.” Kelce’s pre-game outfits have been bold and fun but he will likely leave that for game day and instead look more like a prince.
