STA’s Hispanic Honors Society is hosting a clothing drive Oct. 7-11. They are accepting donations mainly for women and children. The donations will go to Amethyst Place, a shelter for families in Kansas City. In addition, the language teacher’s classes with the most donations will receive a yard day for their classes.

The Hispanic Honor Society met Monday to discuss how they will count clothes and organize donations. The officers also specified the type of clothing they are looking to collect. Senior Liv Richardson hopes that the drive will benefit Kansas City’s women and children.

“The clothing drive is for people who are in need,” Richardson said. “We give people who are affected by violence clothes so that they can go out and find a job, and we give them access to things that you need to be successful in life.”
