Varsity golf team ties third with Blue Springs at Sectionals

The golf team scored 369 at sectionals, following closely behind Lee's Summit West's 365.

STA’s varsity golf team tied third with Blue Springs on Oct. 2 at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex. They played against Blue Springs High School, Lee’s Summit West High School and Notre Dame de Sion High School.

“I was nervous for sectionals after we had just placed 2nd at districts,” sophomore Grace Gaume said. “But I was happy I had the opportunity to play and I just tried to remind myself to enjoy the round.”

STA with a score of 369, tying third place with Blue Springs, scored closely behind Lee’s Summit West’s 365. Rival school Sion placed first with 336.

“We were 4 shots from qualifying for State as a team,” head coach Martha Linscott said. “That was our goal this year and we almost did it. I am very excited to have two State qualifiers this year.”
