STA’s varsity golf team placed second in the Quad Meet on Aug. 23 at Blue Hills Country Club against rival Notre Dame de Sion High School, The Pembroke Hill School and Lee’s Summit West High School.

“Originally it was supposed to be a Triangular, with three schools, but now we’ve got four,” assistant coach Larry Hunter-Blank said. “We don’t actually play against Pembroke, but their head coach, the head coach of Sion and Martha [our head coach] are all friends and they wanted to structure a tournament together like this.”

STA finished with a score of 173, following closely behind Sion’s low score of 166. Pembroke followed with 181 and Lee’s Summit West with 188. The lowest four scores out of the five girls who represented St. Teresa’s will count towards the team’s total of 173.

“Our team goal is to go to State, as a team,” Hunter-Blank said. “So last year [junior] Brie Arello went as an individual. It was a great experience – for us and her. But I think it in some ways helped to motivate us to go as a team. So we set as our goal, really at the end of last year, that we wanted to qualify as a team and go to State.”
