On Sunday Jan. 31 STA held it’s 150th year anniversary mass at Visitation Catholic Church. The mass was celebrated by Fr. Patrick Rush and concelebrated by Fr. Robert Stewart and Fr. Terry Baum.

The STA choir sung at the mass, directed by STA choir director Steve Perry and accompanied by Steven Karlin. The ushers at the mass were up entirely of STA seniors. The eucharistic ministers at the mass were made up of current STA students and STA alumnae. Many STA seniors showed support at the mass by wearing their STA uniform to the mass.

Many STA faculty members were also involved in the mass. STA president Nan Bone spoke briefly before the mass and during the prayers of the faithful. Kate Absher, STA english teacher read the first reading at the mass and STA faculty members Jennifer Greene and Meredith Snyder were in attendance as well.

After the mass ended a reflection on the Sister’s of St. Joseph of Carondelet was given by Helen Fleming, a Sister of ST. Joseph and STA graduate of the class of 1960. Lace bookmarks were also given out after the mass. The bookmarks were made by women from Neighbor to Neighbor in Concordia, Kan. in honor of STA’s 150th anniversary.
