According to digital art teacher Kelly Scott, her and other art teachers submit student work to the board at Avila and then the board invites a few students to display their work.
Senior Annie Bolin is new to design and is excited about the show.
“I didn’t really expect to win a place in the show not because I’m not proud of my work, but because I just started doing this graphic design stuff last semester in my Computer Layout & Design class,” Bolin said. “I’m actually planning to study design a bit in college now. I’m super excited, though, and I’m definitely going to the closing reception of the Avila show later this month.”
The top 3 awards in the exhibit will receive $2000 renewable scholarships to Avila’s Art + Design program. The closing reception is Sunday, February 21 from 2-4pm in the Thornhill Gallery. The exhibition will hang February 17 – 23. Gallery hours are 10am – 3pm, Monday-Thursday, or by appointment.
