Varsity softball finishes week with even wins and losses

The Stars varsity softball team started the week with two losses, by the end of the week they had won four games and lost four games.

The Stars varsity softball team played in the Winnetonka/Park Hill South Tournament Sept. 11 and Sept. 12 they  won their game against Oak Park High School Friday Sept. 11 with a score of 12-5, lost against Winnetonka High School Friday Sept. 11 with a score of 6-4.

On the second day of the tournament the Stars lost to Oak Grove High School Saturday Sept. 12 with a score of 5-4 and won against Raymore/Peculiar High School with a score of 7-4.  The Stars won 6-2 at home against Summit Christian Academy High School Sept. 9.

They also won 13-3 at home against Grandview High School Sept. 4. The team lost 8-5 at home against Mid-Buchanan High School Sept. 2 and lost 6-1 at St. Pius X High School Sept. 1.

We had a rough start… last week, but battled back and finished the week strong,” head coach Ty Abney said. “Today is our first game of the week against Summit Christian Academy. They are a solid team, so we’ll have to play well to win.”

This next week the Stars  face Lee’s Summit North High School at home Tuesday Sept. 15. The Stars play against Notre Dame de Sion High School Wednesday Sept. 16.   “Regarding the tournament, we’re fulling expecting a solid performance,” Abney said Wednesday Sept. 9. “We’ve got two games Friday and two Saturday. Every team in the tournament will provide quality competition, so we’ll have to play well, but we fully expect to have a great weekend.”
