Almost Southern: An Introduction
An introduction to the greatest blog ever.

Welcome to possibly the greatest blog ever.
My name is Meredith Mulhern, otherwise known as the short ginger senior you may see walking across the quad. I’m so excited to start this blog because it’s going to be funny as heck and one big joke (just like my life).
This blog is going to be where I document my life and past life stories over the next year. You may be asking, “What’s so special about Meredith?” Well, here are three fun facts:
- I have been in four car accidents in less than one year (three of them have not been my fault).
- I’m an extreme hypochondriac, which I will explain in another blog post.
- My family is psychotic (not literally), but especially my dog. He recently ate all of the markers in our house.
So now that you know more about me, I should probably explain the name of this blog. As you may know, Kansas City is a very Southern town stuck in the Midwest. 90% of the people I know wear Southern apparel companies on a regular basis. If you travel twenty minutes outside of town, you’ll begin to see confederate flags. You may even catch yourself saying “y’all.” The University of Missouri is in the Southeastern Conference for sports, otherwise known as the SEC. And, for some reason, my family likes to think that we’re Southern (for another blog post).
I’m almost Southern in the sense that my family likes to make me act like I am and that Missouri is the shunned cousin of the South.
Since you all live in the Kansas City area, it means you’re almost Southern, too.
Also, I know this introduction is kind of boring, but I swear this blog will get funnier. (Like the story of how my car got hit by giant sewage pipes – that’s a funny one).
That’s all I have for today. I hope y’all have a fabulous week.
