STA to produce first ever “lip dub”

Students and faculty of STA will star in the school’s first “lipdub” at the end of the school day May 1. The Student Leadership Team proposed the idea to administration after seeing the lip dubs of other area high schools. A lip dub is a video shot in one take throughout the school of students and faculty lip syncing to a certain song. STA’s “lipdub” will be a mix created by Bailey Whitehead of Run the World by Beyonce, Take on Me by A-HA, Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus, and STA’s school song sung by the entire school.

All students and faculty members have been invited and encouraged to participate in the filming of the lip dub.

“We will have people stationed throughout one building by clubs, sports teams, languages, teachers, etc., and each group will be assigned a certain section of song lyrics.” Whitehead explained.

Students and faculty were asked to sign up for the video in the certain group they would like to be a part of. Some of the groups include the soccer team, Photography Club, French students, and choir.

Leaders for each group participating were chosen by the Student Leadership Team. Those leaders have been put in charge of organizing costumes, decorations and any choreography their group will perform during their time on camera.

The original idea was proposed by senior class president Bailey Whitehead at a Student Leadership Team meeting earlier this semester. The idea was then brought to president Nan Bone for approval.

“Originally I thought it’s just such a busy time,” Bone said. “It seems like the days are so broken up with special schedules and events, but those will be your favorite memories, just like Walk of Fame. At the end of the day when those colors go up you know you’re going to love having that memory. I know this lipdub will have the same effect.”
