Lee’s Summit Airport is an airport where several pilots from all walks of life store their experimental and certified aircraft. The community is also home to the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) local chapter. The pilots fly to breakfast in Paola City each Saturday morning and unite on common ground to share their love of flying. The airport is unique because many of the pilots built their own planes and now fly them. The airport offers flying lessons and opportunities for kids and teenagers to experience flying during Young Eagle Fly-ins. These photos, taken March 15, April 5, and April 10, depict typical days for the pilots of Lee’s Summit Airport.
