Four clubs are hosting drives this holiday season. Rotary Interact Club is collecting new towels for Hurricane Sandy victims on the eastern coast of the United States. Community Service Club has teamed up with Human Dignity Club for an Adopt- A- Child/Star campaign that allows students, faculty or advisories to purchase Christmas presents for a child in need. Social Justice Club is hosting a winter clothes drive for refugees who have relocated to Kansas City from war-torn countries. The Jewish Vocational Service will distribute the donations.
According to sophomore Ellen Weitkamp, many recipients immigrate from warmer places and are not used to the Midwest’s unpredictable weather. Bins are placed in the front hallways of M&A Building and Donnelly Hall.
