DartTube: Dancing with the Stars Videos 2011

DartTube: Dancing with the Stars Videos 2011

Tuesday, Nov. 15, the senior class and the Dart hosted the third annual “Dancing with the Stars” event, where STA students paired up with teachers and Rockhurst High School seniors and danced in front of an audience.

Here are the pre-performance and actual performance videos!

First Place: Junior Elaine Schmidt and Mr. Stephen Himes

[wpvideo IAQryKci]

What is your greatest strength?
My greatest strength is my will to succeed despite adversity. I let nothing get in between me and my goal.
What is your greatest weakness?
By adversity, I mean lack of rhythm, dancing ability and experience.
Do you expect to win?
Well… I mean… it would be nice to win.
What do you have to say to the competition?
Good luck.
What can you say to the audience?
I can’t wait for y’all to meet my secret partner.

Second Place: Senior Mary Cate Feuerborn and RHS senior Hunter Meacham

[wpvideo gdSgOQFg]

[wpvideo MdgcZLfG]

What is your greatest strength?
I think my greatest strength is my passion for dance.
What is your greatest weakness?
My greatest weakness is time management.
Do you expect to win?
I really want to win but I don’t want to be too confident, there is great competition out there.
What can you say to the audience?
I want to tell the audience to vote on entertainment but also on skills and if it looks like the group took time to choreograph a dance.
Have you and your team been practicing?
We have not had an official practice yet but we have all our ideas for the choreography planned out.
Do you have a theme/ team name you would like to share?
I wouldn’t say we have a theme because we tried to incorporate different types of music and dance.
Anything else? Memories, funny quotes, slogans, etc?
I would just like to say it’s really a joint effort. I’m not the only one coming up with the choreography, he’s teaching me some of his moves as well.

Third Place: Senior Kelly O’Byrne and Mr. Mike Egner

[wpvideo BF8w3LwM]

What is your greatest strength?
I think our greatest strength is our unknown talent. Mr. Egner’s fit legs and hips can move in any direction.
What is your greatest weakness?
Our weakness would be me and the fact I have to constantly keep up with         his unique dance steps.
Do you expect to win?
I expect to win because no dancer has ever done what were about to do.
What do you have to say to the competition?
I want to tell those “Rock” guys that they have nothing on Mr. Egner.
What can you say to the audience?
The audience better get excited for a fierce battle on stage with Mr. Egner and I.
Do you have a theme/ team name you would like to share?
People who see us battle like to call us the “medievalelers.”
Anything else? Memories, funny quotes, slogans, etc?
When i first asked Mr. Egner to be my partner he told me that it’s illegal for him to dance in Missouri, whatever that means.

Sophomore Katie Tampke and Ms. Amanda Johnson

[wpvideo tnbopMFv]

[wpvideo 8q3Vbpx8]

What is your greatest strengths?
Ms. Johnson was an Olympic Gymnast at 7 and Top Gun Dancer, and I won every child beauty pageant because of my triple threat abilities.
What is your greatest weakness?
Our artistic abilities are too abstract for some people to understand.
Do you expect to win?
Duh.
What do you have to say to the competition?
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
What can you say to the audience?
Hold on to your socks, because they are about to be blown off.
Have you and your team been practicing?
Two-a-days… Duh
Do you have a theme/ team name you would like to share?
Our team name is “Ducks in a basket”
Anything else? Memories, funny quotes, slogans, etc?
Our best memory as a team was when we walked in on Himes, Shrock, Thomas, Sanem, and Fast’s weekly super-secret roller disco party. They inspired us to do Dancing With the Stars together.

Senior Stephanie Hampel and Ms. Dianna Blessen

[wpvideo eOhAG8sB]

[wpvideo ghx0gb7U]

What is your greatest strength ?
Probably, well, I guess my love for dance. Many people don’t know this but Ive always wished I was a dancer.
What is your greatest weakness?
Lack of experience, Blessen and I are going into this blind. I’ve never danced in front of an audience so this should be interesting…
Do you expect to win?
I guess I would label us as the underdogs, but who knows what could happen.
What do you have to say to the competition?
You might have experience, maybe a few more moves and a lot more coordination but watch out.
What can you say to the audience?
Get excited, trust me you don’t want to miss this. We’ll be incorporating various dance styles, you’ll just have to come and see for yourself.
Have you and your team been practicing?
Yes, Blessen and I have been busy with our dance, since neither of us have had any real experience putting a dance together we’ve had to be on top of things.

Senior McLaren O’Rear and Ms. Stacie O’Rear

[wpvideo 8dgGuSru]

[wpvideo E2lmotih]

What is your greatest strength?

Our greatest strength is the fact that we come from a strong lineage of dancers in the family. Studies have shown, that my family’s DNA has a certain dance gene that helps us to be better at dancing than all the [competitors]. The jitterbug in our DNA will lead us to victory.
What is your greatest weakness?
Our greatest weakness is that since we live at the opposite ends of our house, it is sometimes difficult for us to find time for practice.
Do you expect to win?
We definitely expect to win. Why would we even enter if we knew we wouldn’t?
What do you have to say to the competition?
I dare you to try and out dance the O’Rears! Like I said, we have the dancing gene.
What can you say to the audience?
Prepare to have your socks blown off by the awewsome-ness of the O’Rears.
Have you and your team been practicing?
No…practice is for people who need to learn how to dance, not for people who are born with it in their blood.

Senior Margot Livers and RHS senior Sam Maassen

[wpvideo xeZbd9oB]

[wpvideo 4YNy1KC6]

What is your greatest strength?

Sam and I both have deep dance backgrounds. We bring each others’ different styles to the table to make for a really intricate dance.
What is your greatest weakness?
We show no weakness.
Do you expect to win?
We fully expect nothing less than victory.
What do you have to say to the competition?
I think our biggest rival is going to be Kelly and Mr. Egner. I’ve heard he’s got the moves.
What can you say to the audience?
Bring sunglasses because these stars are going to dazzle you.
Have you and your team been practicing?
We have been practicing, but times and places remain a secret.
Do you have a theme/ team name you would like to share?
We will be exploring different cultures/lifestyles in our dance.
