Shawnee Mission East senior Tyler Rathbun was tragically killed in an ATV accident Nov. 25. Rathbun was the star soccer player for SME's varsity team, having beat his coach's record of 16 goals in a season. Rathbun achieved a record of 22 goals this past season. Rathbun will be forever remembered and terribly missed by all his loved ones. Thoughts and prayers go out to the Rathbun family, as well as Shawnee Mission East.
Senora Montoya recently got married and is now seven months pregnant. Students, like freshman Karissa Jamboretz, are very happy for her. "Because I'm a freshman, I've only had her for about a semester," Jamboretz said. "I'll be sad to not have her as a teacher when she goes on maternity leave, but I'm very happy for her during this exciting time in her life."
On the opening night of the STA musical, Nov. 7, students put on makeup, dance and sing to pump-up music, dress in costume, and practice their lines in preparation for, "Little Shop of Horrors."
