75% of voters chose to renovate the airport projected to complete in 2021.
November 9, 2017
Kansas City residents voted Nov. 7 to renovate the Kansas City International Airport and made other decisions about local candidates and issues.
According to the KCI airport website, the proposed plans will increase the convenience and efficiency of the airport by building a single new terminal to replace the three-terminal layout that was opened in 1977.
The bill passed with an overwhelming majority of voters in favor of the new airport. The new airport will open in late 2021 but a series of steps must happen before an official timetable is set. This will not cost taxpayers, because the renovations will be privately financed.
