STA’s debate team sent ten pairs of debaters to compete at Rockhurst High School Nov. 9. According to debate moderator Alicia Stewart, four teams competed in the novice category while six competed varsity.
“Overall it was a really great experience,” first year varsity debater and sophomore Rhianna Jones said. “My favorite part was sitting in on [Paige Sopyla] and [Cozy Viles’] debate… they killed it.”
The team of senior Kelly Hulsey and junior Maeve Madden took eighth place in the novice category. No varsity teams placed.
