The Cardinals elected Jorge Mario Bergoglio from Argentina, the new Pope of the Roman Catholic church. After a day and a half of voting, the 115 Cardinals concluded the 77-year-old Argentine man would become the successor to Pope Benedict XVI. Bergoglio will be serving under the name Francis, after Sister Francis of Assis.
According to CNN, Bergoglio is the first pope elected outside of Europe in the modern era. Up until now, he has been the Archbishop of Buenos Aires since 1998.
