Michael Jordan, the living legend, reached another milestone on Wednesday. But this time it wasn’t hitting “The Shot” or winning a championship ring. This milestone was the celebration of his 50th birthday.
Michael Jordan is arguably one of the best players to ever step foot on a basketball court. So, it’s no wonder ESPN made a huge deal out of his birthday. Everyday of the week, ESPN had a segment devoted to Jordan and his remarkable basketball career. My personal favorite segment was Jordan’s top 50 plays. As someone who never personally had the chance to watch Jordan play, it’s incredible to see just how GOOD Jordan was while I was watching those clips.
People will always argue over who is the greatest basketball player ever. We may never get the answer to this question. But, one thing that is for sure is that no one has changed the game like Jordan did.
Jordan’s shoe line, Air Jordan, has become a million dollar industry. Even today Air Jordans are still being manufactured and sold like crazy. This idea of having a deal with Nike paved the way for other athletes to take part in marketing.
Jordan’s play on the court also revolutionized the game. If you need proof, just look Jordan up on YouTube and watch as insane dunks and acrobatic drives convince you he is one of the best.
So while it will be argued for the rest of time if he is the greatest, there is no question that Michael Jordan is one of a kind.
Below are a couple of my favorite moments from Michael Jordan:
