Oct. 5, the junior class went on a field trip to the Coterie Theatre to watch the play Becoming Martin. The play was about Martin Luther King Jr.’s collegiate experience and his road to becoming a pastor and the development his views on civil rights.

The event was proposed and chaperoned by American History teachers Anne Papineau and Craig Whitney.

“It was a riveting play and I know the junior class very much enjoyed it as well,” said Papineau, “my hope is that the lessons taught by the story of a young Martin Luther King, Jr. have been absorbed by our students and serve as a reminder of the value of work ethic and fighting for justice.”

Further information on Becoming Martin will be in the second issue of the Dart, out Oct. 22.

About the Writer
Anna Ronan, Design Editor

Hi, my name is Anna Ronan and I’m the design editor, a page designer and a writer. I’m a junior, meaning that this is my second year on the staff I adore so dearly. Though journalism and design are two of my biggest passions, you can also find me around campus as the head of costume crew for the theatre program and vice-president of art club. And, when I’m not stressing about school, I love listening to music from artists like The Garden, MGMT, Clairo and Rex Orange County. I also enjoy delving into the depths of YouTube, being the meme queen and giving all of my love to my cat (Lily) and dog (Draco). I’m super excited to write great stories, design great pages and have a great time with all of my fellow Dart sisters! #darticated
