Bridget Jones’ (Travel) Diary: Top five photos every traveler takes

These are the top five photos you should take on your next trip.

by Bridget Jones, Social Media Manager

Dear Diary,

Today we’re going to talk about one of my favorite things, travel photography. Now the most important thing I’m going to tell you right now is that you DO NOT NEED A FANCY, EXPENSIVE CAMERA TO CREATE GOOD PHOTOS! You can shoot amazing pictures with just your iPhone camera or your mom’s digital camera. All you need is a good eye and a longing for good pictures. Anyway, now that you have a little bit of inspiration, here’s my list of the top 5 photos every traveller takes.

The classic solo pic

DO NOT BE AFRAID TO ASK A STRANGER TO TAKE OF SOLO PIC OF YOU! These are the memories you want, trust me. Don’t be weirded out by asking someone you don’t know to take a picture of you, furthermore don’t be afraid to do something funny or cute in the photo because you fear being judged. It will probably make their day when they laugh at you doing something dumb in front of Stonehenge or the Grand Canyon. You will love and cherish these solo pics in the future, and they also make great profile pictures.

Family photo

Family vacations are essential for many families and these trips must be remembered. Therefore, family photos are necessary. This may be done by asking a stranger to take the shot or using a self timer camera, or even a selfie stick, which leads me to my next photo.

Selfie

We all take them. Some hate them, many love them, I think they’re hilarious. Sometimes it’s just necessary to take selfie, for example when there is no one around you to take your photo, or you want to do something funny or dumb that you know would not be approved by a stranger. Just switch your phone to front camera, hold out your arm and snap a few dozen pictures of your face.

Panorama

This is one of my favorite photos to take, as you can probably tell by the extreme amount of examples I show below. I love being able to capture an entire scene, not just what fits on the small screen of your phone. Also they are generally gorgeous. You can capture mountains, oceans and people all in one photo because of how much space you have. It’s literally a photo that captures everything and really takes you back and makes you feel like you are back in the the photo.

 Sunset photos

I am such a sunset person. From sunsets over the the Pacific Ocean, to sunsets over the mall parking lot, I love them all. The way the colors bleed into each other perfectly, almost like someone painted on the sky. It takes my breath away. So why not capture it? Half of my camera roll is probably sunset photos. Of course the picture never does this act of beauty and nature justice, but that’s what editing apps are for. If you see a sunset that you love, take a picture because the sky will never look exactly like that again.

Well folks, that’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed my many examples and leave me requests below! Also I have one more piece of advice,  don’t let anyone criticize you for wanting to remember the best moments of your life. If someone makes fun of you and says you take too many photos, tell them to get out, because this is your life, not theirs and you can capture the moments that you want to capture.

Until next time travelers.

Sincerely,

Bridget
