C.K. in K.C.: Succotash

Succotash is the place to go for an authentic Kansas City restaurant experience.

by Christina Kirk, Page Designer

Advised by history teacher Craig Whitney, I decided to check out Succotash, which was described to me by Whitney as a “breakfast and lunch joint with hearty American eats and a hip, quirky vibe.” Intrigued, I hitched a ride with junior Ellie Grever and strolled on down.

Turns out, Whitney’s description was completely on par. With its bright colors and eccentric adornments, Succotash stood out from the surrounding panorama of red-brick buildings. Inside, an even more beguiling scene presented itself. Beautiful art pieces scattered the walls in a charmingly unorganized way, staff comfortably conversed with customers and delectable dishes sat in front of eager patrons.

Succotash truly seizes what Kansas City has to offer through supporting local artists and serving locally grown food. I was wholly impressed by the restaurant and encourage any Kansas Citian (or tourist) to try it.

Come see for yourself; you won’t regret it.
