Netflix has hundreds of documentaries online to stream instantly. The best of these documentaries is The Short Game. This Netflix original chronicles the lives of eight of the best seven year old golfers as they prepare and play in the World Championships Junior Golf tournament. The portraits of each player eventually intertwine and create the genius of the film – the mature (and sometimes hysterical) insights of the young competitors.
The contrast of the seven and eight year-olds age with their athleticism and ambition only further serves to make their comments more meaningful. For instance, Allan Kournikova trains incessantly like a professional athlete. But his logic is a bit warped; he explaines at dinner that if he indulges in chocolate, he cannot eat it again for “six months.”
The Short Game is a touching, suspenseful and as funny as its 2003 model, Spellbound.
