Three STA cross-country runners were recognized on an all-metro team Jan. 13 by the Kansas City Star. Senior Courtney Coppinger was named first team. Sophomore Ann Campbell was named second team, and sophomore Hayden Lee received an honorable mention. Coppinger was named second team last year and Campbell previously received an honorable mention.
“It feels great to be honored as second team runner because I improved from an honorable mention last year,” Campbell said. “It is even greater that St.Teresa’s had three runners who made all-metro.”
According to the The Kansas City Star, members of the high school sports staff and coaching consultants recognize the top 28 female local cross-country runners.
“We feel really honored to be recognized,” Lee said. “We all work really hard and it feels good to know that other people see our effort.”
In an email to the cross-country team head coach Karen Moran Redlich said “they have worked very hard for this well deserved honor.”
