Kansas City Zoo Finally Gets Polar Bear
After 20 years, the Kansas City Zoo finally has a polar bear again. Only 81 polar bears live in captivity in North America.
Look at how adorable those little guys are! Some fun facts about polar bears:
1. A polar bear’s fur is not white! It is hollow. The fur reflects light. The hollow fur also traps the sun’s heat to help keep the polar bear warm.
2. A polar bear is so strong that it can kill an animal with one blow from it’s paw.
3. Polar bear babies weigh a little more than a pound when they are born.
4. Polar bear cubs learn to freeze and remain still while their mother hunts. If they move, the mother disciples them, with a whack to the head.
