Head cross country coach Karen Moran gave birth to daughter Christine Grace Redlich Jan. 3 via c-section. According to varsity cross country runner Sarah Vickery, a group of cross country runners went to visit Moran in the hospital the next day, where Vickery said Moran was tired, but doing great. Vickery said she was in awe over the baby.
“The baby was so cute,” Vickery said. “[Christine] was the smallest baby I’ve ever held. She is literally the cutest thing ever.”
Vickery also said she was surprised by some of the baby’s features.
“I could not get over how tiny her fingernails were,” Vickery said. “[Christine] is absolutely adorable.”
According to Vickery, the group of around 10 girls was comprised mostly of girls who were on this season’s cross country post-season team. Vickery also said that Moran has been keeping in touch with the girls since welcoming her new daughter.
“Coach Moran just sent us pictures [of the baby],” Vickery said. “She is so cute. I’m obsessed.”
Vickery also said that Moran having a new baby will impact the cross country team next season.
“[Having a baby during the season] will make it a little difficult,” Vickery said. “But she’s done it before and she’s very organized so that will help.”
While Vickery believes that Moran having a baby at practice could be problematic, she is still excited about the season.
“When we go to St. Louis, [Coach Moran] will have to bring the baby with her,” Vickery said. “But I also think [having the baby on the trip] will be fun.”
