Seniors decorate the quad to spread some Christmas cheer

Seniors worked to string lights on trees, put ribbons on railings and even wrap trash cans.

Last night and this morning, members of the senior class decorated the quad with festive lights and ribbons, as per tradition. At 6:30 a.m. in the 30 degree weather, seniors were hanging candy canes, plugging in lights and dancing to Christmas music.

“I just think it’s about bringing a little bit of light and happiness to our sisters’ days,” senior Marin Brown said. “I remember being a freshman and walking on campus for Christmas for the first time, I was just in shock and awe about how cool it was. For me, it means bringing that feeling to the freshman again.”

The lights were plugged in and senior Maura Knopke cheered as students filtered through the quad.

“Christmas is a go,” she said with a grin.
