Theology teacher featured on KCURs Up To Date

Theology teacher Michael Sanem discussed Catholic saints in the modern world on KCUR-FM’s Up to Date with Steve Kraske yesterday morning. Sanem was a guest on the radio show along with pastor of St. Therese Little Flower and St. Peters Fr. Steve Cook and editor of National Catholic Reporter Dennis Coday.

The four discussed the expedition of Mother Teresa’s recent canonization and the influence Catholic saints have on the public’s lives. During the show, Kraske proposed that perhaps the amount and frequency of canonized saints strips them of their “lustre”.

“We’re all called to sanctity, to saintliness,” Sanem said. “It’s simply letting God shine through your life no matter how messy or humble… We’re all called to be a sign of God’s love in the world.”

STA had pitched the idea for doing a show on saints, and Sanem and campus minister Meredith Snyder were to be guests, according to Sanem. Snyder had too much going on, but Sanem was happy to accept the offer.

“It was a bucket list thing,” Sanem said. “I wanted to take a selfie but I thought it would have been inappropriate.”
