The Kansas City Royals defeated the New York Mets during Game 2 of the World Series 7-1. The Royals lead the series 2-0. The Mets took the lead at the top of the fourth inning after first baseman Lucas Duda hit a single RBI allowing second baseman Daniel Murphy to score. In the bottom of the fifth, the Royals took a three run lead with runs scored by left fielder Alex Gordon, right fielder Alex Rios, short stop Alcides Escobar, and first baseman Eric Hosmer. The Royals started another scoring streak in the bottom of the eighth inning with runs by third baseman Mike Moustakas, catcher Salvador Perez, and Gordon.

Royals starting pitcher Johnny Cueto pitched the entire nine innings, allowing one run on two while Mets starter Jacob de Grom gave up four runs on six hits and exited after five innings.

The Royals will play Game 3 in New York City Friday.
